John Russell “Rabbit” Grissom, 70, of Allerton, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at OSF Heart of Mary Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Per his wishes, he will be cremated with no public services.

John was born May 28, 1949 in Tuscola to Russell and Doris (Lovell) Grissom. John joined the US Army out of High School, and served in the Vietnam War. He was truck driver with over 2 million miles under his feet. He loved all types of animals. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

John married Beulah Johnston on November 17, 1988 and she survives. Also surviving are his children, William Holmes (Amanda Cripp), James (Stephanie) Holmes, Jennifer (Sean) Simmons and Heather (Jeff) Carlson; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy (Nancy) Grissom; sister, Ruth (Gene) Spears and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
