Mr. Oliver, 82, passed away on August 26, 2017 at his home in Charlotte. Born March 1, 1935 in Anson County, NC, Johnny was a son of the late Jadie and Annie Mae Lear Oliver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for and retired from the City of Charlotte. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool and watching sports.

Johnny is survived by his five grandchildren, Risa Oliver Abernathy (Chad), Ellen M. Oliver, John S. Sutton, Jeffrey A. Sutton and Destiny D. Sutton; and nine great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Oliver; and their two children, Wanda O. Sutton and Jamie Oliver; two brothers, Boyce Oliver Sr. and James Oliver; and his sister, Laura O. Coley.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31st in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road. Interment with military honors will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association ( www.alsa.org). Condolences may be offered at www.harryandbryantfuneralhome.com.
