Obituary:
Mrs. Janice Bailey Carter, age 80, of Tallapoosa, GA, joined her husband in their heavenly home June 12, 2019.
Mrs. Carter was born March 28, 1939, in Rome, GA, to the late Roland Clifton “Bant” and Doris Pope Bailey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Col. James R. Carter who passed March 31st, 2019.
Mrs. Carter was a devoted member of Tallapoosa First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished musician, having majored in music and playing the piano and organ for church. She minored in secondary education and was a passionate and dedicated educator.
Having married the love of her life, she followed her Colonel wherever the military sent them. Being the ever resilient and devoted wife of fifty-seven years, she has followed him home once again.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Stacy Carter of Roswell and Jon Carter of Tallapoosa; granddaughters, Chelsey Carter, Marleigh Carter, and Kylie Carter; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Christine Bailey of Mobile, AL.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 12:00 PM from Tallapoosa First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Casey officiating. Music will be provided by Eddie Hulsey, Robin Abney and Debbie Byrd.
Inurnment will follow in Center Point Cemetery in Temple, Ga.
Janice’s family will receive friends, Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM also at First Baptist.
