Steven graduated from Mormon Trail High School in Garden Grove in 1995. After graduating from high school, Steven enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a damage control man. He served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy and was stationed at the Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, FL. Steven was honorably discharged from the Navy in the fall of 1999.
