He was born on May 17, 1940, in Independence. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Tickfaw.
For several years he was in the restaurant business in Hammond and Ponchatoula. He worked in the Petro Chemical Industry and was president of Chem Cat Corporation in Metairie. Lloyd has two United States Patents for inventions in the Petro Chemical Industry.
For the past 12 years Lloyd and his wife Jeannen have owned Whittingtons' Notary Service, LLC in Ponchatoula. He was a member of the Ponchatoula Chamber of Commerce and Ponchatoula Lions Club.
Lloyd was a loving caring man to his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannen Whittington; 3 daughters and sons-in-law Tanya & Doug Spring of Picayune, Mississippi, Sue & Steve Richardson of Manchester, Tennessee and Billie & Thomas Prine of Doddridge, Arkansas; son, Tommy Lock of Ponchatoula; 6 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law, Douie Rouselle of LaPlace, Edith & M. J. Sullivan of Baker, Clarity Tuttle & Harry Roberts of Ponchatoula, Mildred Miller of Holden, Patsy McKnight of Ponchatoula, and Rena & Tommy Johnson of Ponchatoula; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bertie Clement; daughter, Jacqueline Whittington Perez; 2 sons, James Lloyd Whittington and Buster Dell Lock; brother, Herbert Anthony; 3 sisters, Inez Lewis, Geraldine Stewart, and Jeanette Latino.
Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, Friday, December 30, 2011, from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, December 31, 2011, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Yancy Milmot, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula.
