Mrs. Ward and her daughter died of smoke inhalation during a fire at their home Friday evening, March 16, 1984. They are the wife and daughter of Rev. Paul Ward. They will lie in state at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. Monday until noon on Wednesday, and at the Church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Relatives will meet at the Church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Organist for the service will be Bobbie Ekanger, and special music by Patti Swidas. Ushers are Marvin Nies, Randy Padgett, and Bill Ryman. Casketbearers are John Cox, Jeff Andrews, Al Ward, Robin Hagen and Sang Nguyen, all of Aberdeen, and Richard Apfel of Ipswich. Officiating pastors will be Rev. Bill Nichols of Aberdeen, Rev. Wayne Buechler of Bowdle, and Rev. Craig Bostian of Warner.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Dawn Rachell Vik, the daughter of Virgil and Bertha Wolter Vik, was born at Aberdeen on December 9, 1954. She attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Central High School, class of 1973. She attended Northern State College and earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary teaching. She was a substitute teacher in the Aberdeen School System. She was married to Rev. Paul Ward at Aberdeen on June 6, 1981, and they have resided in Aberdeen since.
She is survived by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Sang (Diana) Nguyen, and Debbie Vik, all of Aberdeen; and her paternal grandfather, Herold Vik, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Kimberly Ann Ward was born January 4, 1984 at Aberdeen. She is survived by her father, her maternal grandparents, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.L Ward of Chico, California.
