Private with Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton, Alberta. Age 22. He was from Edmonton and on his first operational deployment since joining the military.

He was one of three Canadian soldiers killed when their open-top unarmoured all-terrain M-Gator vehicle struck an improvised explosive device on the main road, approximately 40 km west of Kandahar City. The incident occurred while the soldiers were conducting resupply operations between checkpoints near a forward-operating base at Sperwan Ghar in the Panjwaii district.

Sixty Canadian soldiers and one diplomat have died since Canada first sent troops to Afghanistan in 2002.

Pte Wiebe is survived by his spouse Anna Marie; father Joe (Nilda) Wiebe, his mother Sherry Clark; sisters: Michelle (Brandon), Marcie, Amanda (Sean); brothers: Ben and Lance as well as nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

Funeral service, with full military honours, was held on June 30, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmonton.
