Claire L. (Rancourt) Boyd, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Saturday, June 8th, in Melrose. Claire was born in Somerville in 1932, the daughter of Raymond and Marion (Lorgeree) Rancourt. At an early age she moved to Worcester, before moving back to Malden. She Later movedt o Middleton, CT, to attend Medical School. Claire also studied music and voice at Julliard School of Music. Upon her return to the area, she worked at a Doctors office in Saugus’s Cliftondale Square. She later worked for Stone and Webber as a Secretary for 8 years, and at the Community Workshop in Boston for 10 years, retiring in 1997.

In November of 1952, she married her sweetheart, John C. Boyd, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. The two shared nearly 40 years of marriage together until Johns passing in 1989.

Claire was active with the Girl Scouts for many years, first joining at the age of 8. She spent of 30 years with the Girl Scouts as a Scout Leader and Den Mother, and also worked the Boy Scouts in Malden. Claire also volunteered her time with the Bread of Life.

She was a longtime member of Sacred Hearts Church in Malden, where she was a member of the Women’s Sodality, sang with the Choir, and volunteered as a CCD teacher in Sacred Hearts in Malden and St. Marys in Revere. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting, rug making, and making doll dresses.

She is survived by her children, John J. Boyd of OR, Dennis J. Boyd of Stoneham, Stephen M. Boyd of Stoneham, and Dianne L. Lanouette of Malden, her son-in-law Paul Bennett, as well as 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband John C. Boyd, her children, Debra E. Bennett, William A. Boyd, and Robert A. Boyd, and her siblings, Elaine Burgess, Robert A. Rancourt, and Raymond A. Rancourt.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir – MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Wed, June 12th, at 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tues, Jun 11th, from 4 – 8 PM.
