He graduated from Carthage High School in 1970 and attended Panola College. Eddie Ray married Priscilla Jane Eatinger on June 3, 1976, in Clayton. He worked for Pierce Construction in the oil and gas construction business until his retirement. Eddie Ray was a member of the Gary and Carthage Masonic Lodges, Sharon Temple Shrine, and York Rite Bodies. He was a member and first fire chief of the Clayton V.F.D. He lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Clayton.
