Carl Reeves, Jr., 73, of Nakina died Sunday, June 9, 2019. He was born April 27, 1946 in Columbus County, the son of Evelyn Smith Reeves of Nakina and the late Carl Reeves, Sr.

He was a member of Nakina Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and played the piano. He attended NC State University and obtained a bachelors degree. Carl also received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Southeastern Community College. He worked at PCA Farm Credit for 15 years and recently retired from Columbus Regional Health Care System. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Chief Warrant Officer and Helicopter Pilot. Carl received the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and various Air Medals for his service. He also served in the North Carolina National Guard.

He is survived by two sons, Dean Reeves of Wilmington, Benjamin Reeves and wife, Amy of Whiteville; two grandchildren, Brian Lucas Reeves and Charlie Austin Reeves; mother, Evelyn Smith Reeves of Nakina.

He was preceded in death by his father.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, June 14, 2019 at Nakina Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at Peacock Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
