Martin R. Graham, 84, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Home. Martin was born on January 21, 1935 in Sedgwick, AR, the son of W. C. and Alice (Meadows) Graham. Martin married Edith Irene Brown on June 1, 1963 at Kilburn Avenue Church of Christ in Rockford. Martin and his family were long standing members of Kilburn Avenue Church of Christ and then became members of North Park Church of Christ in Machesney Park. Martin loved to work in the garden, he was an avid reader and studied the Bible. He loved to teach Bible classes at church and could quote scriptures by memory. Martin worked for Barber Coleman Company, retiring after 42 years of service. Martin is survived by his wife Irene; daughter Lisa Graham and husband Greg Peters; son Martin R. Graham, Jr.; sister Janet Ragan and brother Wiley Lynn Graham. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Service to celebrate Martin’s life will be 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation for Martin will be from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Peace at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
