Mrs. Mittie Gross Passes Away.
Mrs. Mittie Gross, of near Bloomington, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of her brother, Joseph Claybrooks after a brief illness of only a few days. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock at the Chariton Baptist church, conducted by Rev. George K. Edwards. Mrs. Gross was a sister of Mrs. Lem Cherry and Mrs. J. W. Baker, of Callao and of Albert Claybrook, of Macon.

The sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Mettie Gross. Sunday shocked and saddened the community. Late Saturday night, Drs. Rames and Miller were called and performed an operation. But little hope was entertained Sunday and in the evening she passed away. Deceased was born June 13, 1858, married to Craven Gross in 1885, and leaves four children from that union three sons and one daughter, all living in the West. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and was buried at old Chariton cemetery Tuesday. She leaves four brothers, S. P. Claybrook, Arthur Claybrook, George Claybrook and Joseph Claybrook; and two sisters. Mrs. Jim Baker and Mrs. Wm. Cherry, of Callao. Her parents, William and Melvin Claybrook, died several years ago.
