Mike Barnett, founder of Keechi Creek Outfitters and Game Calls passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home in Centerville, Texas. Mike suffered a stroke several years ago and continued to battle associated issues on a daily basis.

Mike was born September 24, 1956 in Texas City, Texas to A.C. & Helen (Medley) Barnett. He was a graduate of the Texas A&M Class of 1979 where he was active on the boxing team and was a steer wrestler. Mike ran several ranches in Texas including those for Red McCombs in Johnson City, Joe Marchman in Meridian and Sam Knight in Centerville, before opening his own hog hunting and guide business, with which his wife, Carol, helped a great deal. Along with Johnny Knight, Mike was also co-proprietor and namesake for "Mama Mike's" restaurant in 1992.

Many have known Mike through his association with hunting waterfowel, Labradors, squirrel dogs and related items. He was a strong guy who enjoyed the outdoors more than anyone could imagine and was also legendary for his cooking skills.
