James married Julie Marie Brousseau on June 27, 1970 in San Francisco. She passed away April 11, 2011 in Brookings, Oregon.
James served in the U.S. Air Force from March 8, 1960 to January 20, 1964 as a flight instructor. Professionally, worked for the State of California, State of Oregon, Chemeketa Community College, State of Washington Retirement Systems, and Pierce Community College.
Very outgoing, friendly, and social, he loved telling stories and reminiscing. He would do anything for his family and friends. He loved motorcycles and taking motorcycle trips with his friends. He also enjoyed bowling, working on cars, building all sorts of things, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
James is survived by his sons, Brian Gunn and Craig Gunn; brothers, Brad Gunn (wife, Anke) and Steve Gunn (wife, Shirley); and sister, Kathy Gunn (wife, Candy). He also is survived by close friends, Dave and Natasha Trenski (who he thought of as son and daughter) and their children, Vlad and Liza (who he considered as grandkids); Jerry and Lynne Hann, Sandy and Rob Ledesma, the Doty Clan, and many others. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Doris Gunn; and wife, Julie Gunn.
