North Rockland - Kathleen A Sweeney, 74, passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2019. She was born July 30th, 1944 to William and Margaret McCue in Brooklyn, NY. She married the love of her life, Michael Sweeney, August 13, 1966 at St. Anthony's. A resident of North Rockland since 1969, she was the Director of The Children of Mary Nursery Kindergarten for 38 years, a member of the Child Care Resources, Board of Visitors at Helen Hayes Hospital and member of North Rockland Rotary. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and above all, her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Michael, her children; Carol Ann (Dominic) Parisi, Robert (Sara), William, Megan and Mary Beth (Maarten) de Vreede, her grandchildren; Elizabeth, Matthew, Christine, Julian and Owen. Survived also by her sisters; Kerry, Patricia, Maryanne and Noreen, brother-in-law Mark in addition to nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday June 4th from 4-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 5th, 11am, at St. Gregory's Church, Garnerville, followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children of Mary Nursery Kindergarten, 174 Filors Ln, Stony Point, NY 10980 and the United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Ln, New City, NY 10956.
