She married Leslie “Sag” Patterson after he served in the Navy during WWII. They moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, worked at Big Delta during construction of the Air Force Base, and later relocated to Anchorage. Rosemary was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration in Alaska and Colorado. Sag built their retirement home on Pokegama Lake and they lived there together until he died in 1982. Rosemary, like her sisters and brothers, was active in the communities in which she lived. She served as secretary in the Dog Mushers’ Association and served as officer in the Business & Professional Women’s Club in Alaska, Denver and Grand Rapids. She was a member of the Central School Commission, delivered meals on wheels, and volunteered for the Itasca County Historical Society. Rosemary enjoyed a party on her 100th birthday this year and will be remembered as feisty and stubborn, a trait shared by many in her family.
She was preceded in death is her husband, Sag (Leslie) Patterson; parents; brother, Alex Hachey; sisters: Genevieve and Catherine Hachey, Florence (Ralph) Carlson, Aggie (Russ) Lander and Shirley (Ed) Jokinen; nephew, David Jokinen; and great nephew, Chad Hachey.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Hachey; her beloved nieces and nephews known as the “Dirty Dozen”; and great and great grand nieces and nephews.
