Christine M. Saliga-Sullivan, 70, a Lehigh Acres, FL. resident since 2004, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born July 5, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Paul and Caroline Saliga, now deceased.

Christine attended St. Gabriel Catholic School, and Maria High School in Chicago. Christine worked in her adult life, at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, IL., for over 33 years in various departments including many of those years as a Administrative secretary in the Division of Plastic Surgery.

Christine had a love for music and was a founding member of the Lira Polish Women’s singing group and sand with them for many years. The Lira singers continue today as the Lira Ensemble popularizing Polish music and culture. Christine was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America. Christine has also a passion for working with artificial flowers. She took classes at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago. She enjoyed making beautiful creations.

Upon moving to SW Florida with her husband, Mike, they became members the then Blessed Pope John XXIII parish. Christine used her musical skills for a number of years by singing in the parish choir. Christine also participated in a number of other ministries, she was a member of the parish Women’s Guild and was it’s President for a number of years. Another ministry she was a member of was the Funeral ministry. This ministry helps parish families plan the liturgy readings, music and setting up the church for funerals and memorial services.

Christine has a very strong faith life at the parish. She was instrumental in helping coordinating the Divine Mercy Sunday prayer service for a number of years.

Christine is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Michael Sullivan of Lehigh Acres, FL; sister, Pauline Saliga (John Gronkowski) of Chicago, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Ft. Myers, FL in the Narthex of the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Ft. Myers, FL. Entombment will follow at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Ft. Myers, FL.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
