Alida De Keyser came to the United States in December of 1897. In June of 1900, she married Augustus Van Quaethem, a gardener, in Kansas City and they had five children, four of whom survived. In January of 1909, Augustus was attacked by robbers in his home and died on January 16, 1909, in St. Margaret's hospital of Kansas City, Kansas. After his death, Alida married Edward Van Wiele in Kansas City on April 6, 1910. She and Edward had two children, Leonard and Margaret.
