Mrs. Sylvia Hamer “Syb” Ford, 86, of Dalton passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Douglas Hamer and Thelma Harbin Hamer of Lenoir, NC, and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mann Ford III of Dalton.
Syb was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known for her love of family and friends, her love of golf, she and “Big Joe” were active members of Dalton Golf and Country Club for many years, for her volunteer work at Hamilton Medical Center and at St Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid bridge player all throughout her life. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed.

Syb is survived by her daughters and son in laws Ann and Kevin Quinn of Noblesville, IN, and Charlotte and Alan Cosby of Granbury, TX, and her son and daughter in law Joe and Lori Ford of Tunnel Hill, GA; grandchildren Brittany and Chris Owens of Cohutta, GA, Hunter and Jamie Ford of Knoxville, TN, and Andrew Cosby of Granbury, TX; great grandchildren Deacon Owens and Claire Owens; sisters and brothers in law Gwen and Bill Griswold of Chapel Hill, NC, and Pat and Charles Coley of Blowing Rock, NC; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Susan Butler officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
