Memorial services for Rhonda Lou White will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. White passed away April 24, 2017, at her home in Union City, surrounded by her family. She lived her life like her favorite quote from the Dali Lama, "Ultimately, joy is not something to learn, it is something to live. And our greatest joy is lived in deep, loving and generous relationships with others."

Rhonda was born May 29, 1946, in Okeene to Lawrence and Margaret (Hiershe) Chapin. She was a graduate of El Reno High School. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from OCU, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Rhonda then received her Ph.D. in curriculum development from OSU. She was involved in education most of her life as a teacher and administrator. Rhonda began teaching in Minco Public Schools and finished as the curriculum director at Mustang Public Schools. She also tutored at Positive Tomorrows, a school for homeless children.

Rhonda was president of the Oklahoma City Orchestra League from 2011-2012, the Symphony Show House chair in 2014, a docent at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed playing piano, playing bridge and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Denise White.

Rhonda Lou White passed away April 24, 2017 at her home in Union City, OK, surrounded by her family. She lived her life like her favorite quote from the Dalai Lama, "Ultimately, joy is not something to learn, it is something to live. And our greatest joy is lived in deep, loving, and generous relationships with others." She was born May 29, 1946 in Okeene, OK to Lawrence and Margaret (Hiershe) Chapin. Rhonda was a graduate of El Reno High School. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from OCU and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Rhonda then received her Ph.D. in Curriculum Development from OSU. She was involved in education most of her life as a teacher and administrator. Survivors include her husband, Jesse White of the home; Derrel White and wife Mary Ann of Stillwater, David White and wife Julie of Purcell, and Dewayne White and wife Stacey of Trophy Club, TX; grandchildren, Zach White and wife Mia, Matt White, Jacob White, Hannah White, Lauren White, and Brooks White; brother, Larry Chapin and wife Cathy; and other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Dr. Rhonda L. White Endowed Scholarship at Oklahoma City University, 2501 N. Blackwelder Ave., OKC, OK 73106.
