SOPHIE E.N. ROTHLISBERGER
Sophie E. Niemeyer Rothlisberger, born August 14, 1907, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2003. Sophie, at the age of nine, was taught to chord on the piano by her father and brothers who had formed a family band. She played her first professional German style dance at the age of 12 and continued to spread her toe-tapping music to many, many people until she retired at the age of 87. For many years she entertained patrons who danced to her charming style of waltzes, fox-trots, and old-time music which she dearly loved. She sang in church choirs, and could harmonize with the others with the voice of an angel.
Sophie's husband, Alfred W. Rothlisberger, and son, Melton C. (Uncle Honey) Rothlisberger preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria L. Ideus of Victoria, Texas, and daughter and son-in-law, Irene J. (Renie) Keller and her husband Don C. Keller, San Antonio, Texas. Sophie is also survived by her four grandchildren, Robert L. Ideus, John A. Ideus, LaNell Ideus Moore, Kimberly L. Keller Esquivel and seven great-grandchildren, Katie Moore, Brian Moore, Sara Moore, Amy Moore, Megan Ideus, Brittany Ideus and Jonathan Esquivel and many nieces and nephews.
