Ralph E. Manning, 84, of Nescopeck, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 6, 2019, at his home.

Born in Berwick on Sept. 8, 1934, he was the last living child born to the late Russel K. Sr. and Dora Z. (Mausteller) Manning. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1952. After graduation Ralph was employed as an appliance repairman at Cashmarks, Berwick. He also called Bingo numbers at the Union Hall, which is where he met his wife, Ruth P. (Briggs) Manning. They were married for nearly 65 years, and together they owned Manning’s Furniture Store, Nescopeck, for 62 years.

Ralph was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck, where he was the assistant financial treasurer and served on the board of trustees. He was instrumental in the start-up of the Nescopeck Ambulance Association and volunteered as an EMT. He was a former member of the Lion’s Club. Ralph was a past president and member of the Mountain Laurel Campers Club. Together he and Ruth travelled in their Winnebago to the Fan Fare and Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. They also journeyed on numerous cruises to the Caribbean. Ralph was always there for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Sadly, Ruth passed away on May 16, 2019. In addition to his wife and parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gregory Fayock; brothers: Russell K. Manning, Jr., Herbert Manning, Dave Manning; and sisters: Stella Puher and Betty Lechleitner.

He will be greatly missed by his children: Diane Nutaitis and husband, Ted, Bloomsburg; Bradley Manning and wife, Lora, Millville; Paul Manning and wife, Jill, Coopersburg; six grandchildren: Dr. Kristopher Fayock and wife, Ligaya, Philadelphia, Dr. Brian Fayock, Tucson, Ariz., Colby Fayock and wife, Ana, Alexandria, Va., Cory Manning and wife, Anna, Coopersburg, Mike Manning and newly-wedded wife, Marlo, Coopersburg, and Samantha Manning, Millville. He has a great-granddaughter, Malia Fayock, and was looking forward to another great-granddaughter and a great-grandson, both in July. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 Broad St., Nescopeck, with Pastor Susan Knorr officiating.

Family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wesley U. M. Church, P.O. Box 372, Nescopeck, PA 18635.
