DECATUR HERALD REVIEW DECEMBER 2000

Jordan Eugene Ray, 9 of Decatur died at 3:01 pm Sunday December 17,2000 in St.Marys hospital. Funeral mass will be 10 am Thursday in St.James Catholic church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Wednesday in the Dawson & Wikoff Colonial chapel north. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials: Jacob R.Ray fund in care of Decatur Earthmovers credit union.
Jordan was born July 19, 1991 in Decatur the son of Brian and Sheryl Makowicz Ray.He was a member of St. James Catholic church.
Surviving are his mother, Sheryl Ray and special friend, Randy Bates, father Brian Ray and wife Amy of Macon, brother Jacob R. Ray of Decatur, grandparents, Beverly and Stanley Makowicz of Decatur, Linda and Jack Feldman of Lovington, great grandmother, Stella Makowicz of Golden Colorado, Great Grandfather, William F. Krekel of Decatur Great grandmother Mildred Ray of Mt. Zion, many aunts and uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Willard (Gene) Ray, great grandfather Willard E. Ray,Sr.great grandmother Olive King,great grandmother Nancy Krekel,great grandfather Stanley Makowiza,Sr.
Jordan was a loving and kind hearted boy. He was a talented Athlete and was involved in YMCA soccer and basketball programs as well as the E.and E.baseball program.He had a passion for baseball and included among his achievements were two diving catches. When he was not playing he enjoyed cheering for his favorite team,the St. Louis Cardinals and his favorite player, Mark McGuire. Jordan also loved to swim, fish and play golf. He was in the fourth grade at Baum school. He had an especially sweet heart which made him endearing to those who knew him. He loved to smile and laugh and was full of zest and energy. He had many friends of all ages and a loving family who all will dearly miss his laughter,mischief and loving nature.Jordan will live forever in all our hearts.

Jordan is buried not too far from his grandfather Gene and had the same passion for baseball as his grandfather.
