Jose I. Trevino, 81, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on February 17, 1938 to Pedro and Antonia (Fuentes) Trevino in San Benito, Texas. On September 21, 1981 he married Thelma (Farmer) Trevino, who resides in Defiance. Jose proudly served our country in the U.S. Marie Corp. He worked as a millwright at General Motors until his retirement in 2006. Jose was a member of UAW #211. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, working with his hands, and being with his family.

Jose will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Thelma Trevino of Defiance, four daughters, Sylvia (Pepe) Gutirrez of Harlinton, TX, Darlene (Brent) Urivez of Defiance, Frances (Markwin) Jongerden of Defiance, and Dawn (Corey) Lambert of Bryan, two sons, Joey Trevino of Arlington, TX, and Maurice (Trini) Trevino of Defiance, several grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Patricia Trevino-Koch.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Bobby Branham officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
