Reverend Dennis Lee Nixon, Sr.
Born March 16, 1948 in Memphis, TN to Roy Clifford Nixon Sr. and Lena Elizabeth Strunk Nixon. He went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2018, surrounded by loved ones in Memphis. He graduated from Memphis Tech High School, where he played football and was a participant in many student activities. He served in the armed forces as a D-3 Technical Instructor in the US Air Force. He was an entrepreneur for much of his life, and positively impacted every community in which he was involved.

Dennis had a devout love for his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. If you truly knew him, you couldn't help but love his large personality, quick wit, and great sense of humor. Most important was his love and devotion to the Lord, "Rev," (as many affectionately called him) was a licensed minister with accreditations from Memphis Bible College and married many couples. He was only three credit hours away from his doctorate in the theological studies at Jacksonville Theological Seminary bur became ill before he could finish. His true calling was being a Bereavement Chaplain, counselor and coordinator. He served many families through the difficult time, of the loss of a loved one.
He touched the lives of so many people, be them young or old, with his wonderful charisma and generosity of listening to their needs and share with them that God was truly there for them in their time of need.

Dennis is already missed by his family and friends, but we celebrate, because he is now where he truly belongs, with out Lord, in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lena Nixon, his wife Cathy Nixon, and his son, Robert Nixon.

He is survived by his daughter, Becky Harston (husband, Chris), his sons, Lee Nixon(wife, Laverne) and Paul Davis(wife, Kim); his brother, Roy "Skip" Nixon, Jr. (wife, Betts); his sister, Delores :Chick" McMullen(Husband, Bill); sister, Jerry Beach(husband, Frank); his ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many friends and loved ones.
