Lawrence Howard Parmer, 87, formerly of Amarillo, died Feb. 10, 2002, in Kingsland.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St.

Mr. Parmer was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Nolanville, to Cicero Guess and Ida Mae Parmer. He married Violet Mae Copeland on Oct. 23, 1939, in Amarillo. He had retired in Amarillo as a division superintendent from Colorado Interstate Gas Co.

He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a 32nd Degree Mason. Since retirement in Amarillo, he had most recently held residence in Sunrise Beach and Kingsland. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and was honorably discharged in October 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 6, 1986.

Survivors include a son, Larry and wife, Olynnda, of Boulder City, Nev.; a brother, Phill and wife, Lorna of Sunrise Beach; two grandchildren, April Peters of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Aaron Parmer of Auburn, Wash.; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Walter P. Dyck Lectureship in Gastroenterology in care of Scott and White Development Office, 2401 S. 31st St., Temple, TX 76508.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
