Teri Lynn (Hulshizer) Bishop

November 19, 1962 - June 5, 2019

Teri Lynn (Hulshizer) Bishop, 56, of St.Ansgar, died Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 at Mercy One in Mason City, IA.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at 10:30am at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in rural Carpenter, IA with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will take place following services at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood, IA. Visitation will be Friday, June 7th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, IA, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Teri was born November 19th, 1962 in Mason CIty, IA, the firstborn daughter of Ron and Marcia Hulshizer. Despite her small 2 pounds, 10 ounce birthweight, she defied the odds and lived life to the fullest. Throughout her younger years, she was a well known and beloved babysitter to many neighborhood kids. In her high school and college years, she worked at many preschool and childhood centers.

Teri graduated St. Ansgar, IA High School in 1981 and proceeded to obtain her Early Childhood Education Degree from DMACC in Ankeny, IA. She played clarinet in the band, she was a CNA at Good Samaritan Center and a waitress at Gabe's Fish House.

On November 17, 1989 she gave birth to twin boys, Cody and Chris. On October 11, 1991 she gave birth to her daughter Nicole.

On June 22, 1996, she was united in marriage to Daniel Bishop at the Otranto Community Church in Otranto, IA. To this union were born sons Greg on July 15, 1997 and Noah on January 8, 1999.

Teri was an extremely special lady to everyone she met. She had a particular love for young children and early childhood education. She was a talented cook and baker, and was known for serving delicious smorgasbords for family and friends, and bringing baked goods to family and friends in need. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, playing with her many cats and dogs, dining out at local restaurants, and most of all, spending time with friends and family and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She loved rummage sales and shopping in general. She made all family members and friends feel special on their birthdays with custom made photo greeting cards. She was a very loyal wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, attending many concerts, athletic events, school programs and music recitals. Her selfless demeanor manifested itself at all times.

In July of 2018, Dan and Teri had the pleasure of taking a much anticipated trip to Hawaii together. She was in her element, and loved seeing the ocean, the people and other sights.

For almost two decades, Teri was an enthusiastic preschool educator at Merri-Land Preschool in St.Ansgar along with her dear friends, Robin Bless and Beverly Wolff. Most recently, Teri had been employed by the St.Ansgar Community Schools as a para-educator. Dan and Teri's family are members of Deer Creek Lutheran Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Teri is survived by her husband Dan Bishop; Children: Cody Andrews, Chris Andrews, Nicole Andrews, Greg Bishop, Noah Bishop, all of St. Ansgar; Stepchildren: Dana Bishop of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and Rusty Bishop of Hagerstown, Maryland; Parents: Ron and Marcia Hulshizer of St. Ansgar; Step-grandchildren: Hayleigh Hevener, Chloe Eaton and Serenity Eaton of Ridgeland, South Carolina; and Chance "Reno" Bishop and Jordin Bishop of Hagerstown, Maryland.
