STERLING – Long time Dixon businessman, Lee F. Hollingsworth, 76, died Monday, June 3, 2019.

He was born on November 16, 1942, in Sterling. Lee grew up in Nelson, where he attended grade school and later graduating from Rock Falls High School, with the class of 1960. He served in the US Marines and upon discharge, went to work at the Chrysler Plant in Belvidere, IL and also attended Rock Valley College. In 1975, he purchased the auction business from his uncle in Dixon, thus becoming owner/operator of Auction City until his death. In his honor, the business will continue operations as usual, with the help of his family; his son, Andy; and co-workers, Curt, Jim, Herman, and Theresa.

He married Linda Robinson on October 9, 1982. Lee was an avid Chicago sports fan, fisherman, and card player. Lee loved his family; his profession; his customers; his dog, Chevy; his time on the river; and the annual 4th of July parties with fireworks and friends. Lee was a proud father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; his sons, Dr. Anthony (Christina) Hollingsworth of RI, Matthew (Meghan) Hollingsworth of FL and Andrew Hollingsworth of Sterling; his mother, Mary Hollingsworth of KS; his sisters, Laurie Olson of MD and Billie Jo Gess of KS; and his grandchildren, Katie, Caroline, and Claudia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hollingsworth and his sister, Glenda.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Military rites will follow at the funeral home.
