Benjamin Franklin Gibson, 77, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at his home.

Born July 2, 1939 at his home in Red Hill, Va., he was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin P. Gibson, mother, Cora Lee Sprouse Gibson, and stepfather, Clarence Wood.

Ben was a born-again Christian who attended the Charlottesville Church of the Brethren. He was a faithful member for 40 years and will be remembered for his steadfast witness and love for his God and unfailing love for his church family.

Ben is survived by half-sister, Mary Martin; numerous cousins, with whom he was raised. His second cousin, Edward L. Birckhead, Jr., and his wife, Dena and children Madeline and Gabriel, considered Ben a part of their immediate family. He was well loved and will be missed.

A memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Charlottesville Church of the Brethren sanctuary on Rio Road, with Pastor Tom Williams officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Ben Gibson to Charlottesville Church of the Brethren, 1225 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Ben Gibson's grave is located near the access road almost at the end that goes to the South west Corner of the cemetery in the extended part of the cemetery down over the hill.
