Bob, as he was known to family and friends, graduated high school and entered the United States Navy. Bob proudly served our country from January 3, 1957, until his honorable discharge on June 3, 1960. Prior to his discharge, he obtained the rank of Airman.
When Bob returned home from the service, he became a police officer for Lebanon Police Department. He remained an officer for twenty-four years. Bob then began working as the Laclede County Sheriff beginning in 1989, until his retirement in 2000. The Lebanon community and the citizens were important to Bob. He took great pride in his work and was appreciated by his law enforcement family.
On April 17, 1984, Bob was united in marriage with Judy Sisson. Together they shared thirty-five years of love and wonderful memories.
After his retirement, Bob enjoyed tending to the farm and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife Judy; two sons, Andy Dotson and his wife Krysten of Blue Springs, MO and Keith Dotson and his wife Tawny of Lebanon, MO; two daughters, Bobbie Smith and her husband John of Richland, MO and Connie Dotson of Lebanon, MO; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Smith of Lebanon, MO; sister-in-law, Terry Majerak and her husband Joe of Lebanon, MO; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Julie Yearous and her husband Nick of Farmington, MO; other relatives and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Lorane Dotson; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and three brothers-in-law, Ed, Mike and Gib.
Bob will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
