John “Big John” Joseph Crochet Sr., 71, a native of Montegut and a resident of Houma, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, June 17, 1991.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at the Chauvin Funeral Home.

Mass will be said at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Montegut.

He is survived by his wife, Adele Naquin Crochet; five sons, Leland Sr., John Jr., Evince “Bonny” and Lydell Crochet of Houma and Gurshel J. Crochet of Dulac; four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) Comeaux of Houma, Mrs. Carl (Linda) Pellegrin of Chauvin, Mrs. Jerry (Melissa) Luke of Dulac and Mrs. Patrick (Barbara) Theriot of Little Caillou; two brothers, Elmore Crochet of Cut Off and Miller Crochet of Chauvin; four sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Doris) Peltier, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Deroche of Houma, Mrs. LeRoy (Bessie) Falgout of Bourg, Mrs. Berwick (Regina) Olivier of Bourg, and Mrs. Gillis (Enola) Rogers of Cut Off; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evince and Lorenza Ledet Crochet; one brother, Leo Crochet; and one sister, Marion Crochet; and one grandchild.
