Bobbie Jean (Gilbert) Ellis was born April 11, 1931 in Leon County, Texas. Her parents were Frank Oliver and Ruth (Holden) Gilbert. She married the love of her life, Donnie C. Ellis, and together they made their home in Huntsville for over fifty years, while briefly residing in Houston, Centerville, Killeen and Bryan, each for a small period of time.

Bobbie was employed with Sam Houston State University as the secretary of their History Department for many years, and she truly enjoyed her job. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, as well as a proud member of the self-named "Holy Folders," a group of women who volunteered to fold the service programs for the upcoming church service every week. Bobbie and her husband enjoyed daily lunches at the Huntsville Senior Center where they were able to visit and catch up with friends. They were also volunteers at the Waco Methodist Home for orphaned children, and Bobbie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary who helped raise funds to support the orphanage.

Bobbie's favorite past time was being with her family. She loved hearing her grandchildren play and sing beautiful songs and was famous for her buttermilk pie. At the end of the evening when all of the visitors had taken their leave, Bobbie enjoyed winding down the day by sitting on the porch with her husband watching the deer.

Bobbie was truly a beautiful soul who loved her family with all of her heart. She enjoyed the life and family that she and her husband had made together and will leave an enduring legacy of love for generations to come.

Bobbie was preceded in death by both of her parents and daughter, Paula (Ellis) Moore. She is survived by husband, Donnie C. Ellis of Huntsville; son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Dottie Ellis of Huntsville; son-in-law, Johnny Moore of Franklin and brothers, Frank Gilbert & wife, Darlene of Flynn and Pete Gilbert & wife, Yvonne of Killeen.
