Jason Dwight Hughes of Abington, Pennsylvania died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 47 years old. Jason was born November 26, 1971 in Abington, Pennsylvania. He is the beloved husband of Tracy Renà Hughes (nee - Colbert); father of Jackson Marcellus and Kyndal Alyviah Hughes; son of Elaine Hughes; brother of Leanne Brown and her husband Alex; uncle of Emma and Lana Brown; Godson of Peggy Tabakelis. He is also survived by a loving extended family and many friends.

Jason was born and raised in Abington. He was a gifted athlete, who achieved success in sports early and often. He began at a young age with Abington Raiders and the Sonny Hill League, coached and mentored by Sam Rines, Sr. In high school with the Abington Ghosts, Jason starred in both football and basketball. He continued his football career at Lock Haven University and later played semiprofessionally. Jason’s passion for sports led him to coach high school basketball and college football, at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. In recent years, he became an active member of the Pennsylvania wrestling community, in support of Jackson. Jason proudly saw his son win a State Championship and, just last month, win a MAWA Eastern National Championship.

Jason was a devoted father, who fought through numerous serious health issues always to be there for Kyndal and Jackson. He was a loving husband to Tracy. He was the heart of his family, regularly reaching out to his mother, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jason left an impression on the heart of anyone in his path of life with his loving and caring personality and left his fingerprints on all of our hearts with his constant hugs and kisses, which will remain forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at the McKinley Memorial Baptist Church, 214 Cedar Avenue, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.

Religious services will be conducted by close family friend Rev. Jonathan Mason from the Northeast Baptist Church.
