Jack was born March 19, 1948 in Cadillac to Richard and Cornelia Jeanne (VanderJagt) Crandell. On July 29, 1995 Jack entered into marriage with the former Linda Stephens.
Jack graduated from Cadillac Public Schools in 1966. He went on to teach in the district for many years. While a teacher, he also coached wrestling and taught Drivers Education. He also lived and worked in Lafitte, Louisiana, owning and operating a marina/restaurant. Upon returning to Michigan in 1998, he worked for the State of Michigan in both foster care and Child Protective Services. There was no better advocate for his cases. Once he retired he began spending winters with Linda in Florida, eventually buying a condo.
He was often found enjoying anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and riding his quad. He loved spending his time golfing and playing bridge.
He was a proud member of the Eagles in Interlochen and the Elks in Cadillac.
Jack is survived by his wife of more than 23 years, Linda Crandell, of Interlochen and Cape Coral, Florida; his mother, Cornelia Jeanne (Crandell) VanderMolen; his children, Kerrie-Anne (William) Gottschall and Sara Crandell Badder; stepchildren, Melissa (Dan) Kelsey and Bruce Stephens; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard (Maureen) Crandell, Daniel (Paula) Crandell and Thomas Crandell; many nieces and nephews; his ex-wife, Julie Ward; and many close friends.
