After graduating from high school, Dennis joined the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War in the combat infantry and received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the National Defense Medal. In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed wood working, working on cars, photography and he was a jack of all trades. Dennis and his beloved wife also went on many cruises together. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make his grandchildren laugh through playful teasing.
Dennis was a loving husband and father and a doting grandpa. He is going to be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Lyons; son, Kent Lyons; daughters, Sarah Jordan (Robert) and Melissa McMillen (Drew); grandchildren, Drake Lyons, Emmie Lyons, Will Jordan, Lily Jordan, Everett McMillen and Emery McMillen; and brother, Wayne Lyons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 4-8pm at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. A graveside service with military honors will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:30am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Blvd, Canton, GA 30114.
