On Saturday June 1, 2019, Marion Ross Scott passed away at age 94. Marion was born July 18, 1924 in Goodlett, Texas to Walter Grey and Mary Virginia Scott.

He graduated from Goodlett High School in 1942 and joined the United States Navy on October 31, 1942. He served as a Seamen First Class on multiple ships during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged on January 8, 1946. On March 31, 1947 he married Joellen Elizabeth Rockholt and they had two children, Richard Louis and Pamela Amelia. He started his career in the pipeline industry in 1957 with Service Pipeline Co. While working in the pipeline industry, the family moved quite frequently, living in numerous states in the southeast. They ultimately returned to their home state of Texas in 1978. He retired from Exxon Pipeline in 1990 after 33 years of dedicated service.

In retirement, he enjoyed volunteering in the Missouri Street Church of Christ Food Pantry and he always enjoyed being outside. While Marion was a quiet man, his dry sense of humor and quick wit was noted by everyone that met him. He was slow to anger and loved unconditionally. He was selfless and generous to a flaw, never turning anyone away that he believed to be in need. He was a kind, calm and sweet soul that will leave a void in the hearts of his family and friends that can never be filled. He was one of a kind.

Marion was preceded in death by his father Walter, his mother Mary, his brothers Harley, Farley, Louis, JR, Walter Jr., and Clyde; his sisters Jewell, Ruby and Willie, and his son, Richard.

He is survived by his daughter Pamela and ex son-in-law Duane; 4 grandchildren; Jennifer, Duane and wife Nicole, Kristen and husband Cory, and Amanda; 6 great-grandchildren; Caleb, Cohen, Oliver, Amelia, Olivia and Wylder.

Services will be held Wednesday June 5, 2019 at Navarre Funeral Home at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown, with a visitation at 3:00 pm and the funeral service at 3:30 pm. A graveside service will be held Friday June 7 at 11:00 am at the Goodlett Cemetery in Goodlett, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Missouri Street Church of Christ Food Pantry at 3400 S. Highway 146, Baytown, TX 77520.
