De Bragga was the Queens County Republican leader from 1904-1930. The son of a Portuguese sailor, De Bragga served a term as sheriff of Queens, in 1900, and served as Chief Clerk of the Supreme Court of the Second Judicial District from 1910-1937. He was a powerful force in state politics.
