A native of Deleon, Texas, James Franklin Singleton married Stella Mae Parks on November 1, 1931, in Lovington, New Mexico. They moved to Seagraves, Texas, in 1940. The Singletons owned and operated a service station in Seagraves for 35 years. James Franklin (J.F.) had five sisters: Mrs. Tom Moore, of Vernon, Texas; Mrs. W.I. Gilbreath, of Clyde, Texas; Mrs. T.A. Wartes, of Brownfield, Texas; Mrs. Robert (Mozell) Hamm, of Wellman, Texas; and Mrs. C. T. Miller, of El Cajon, California. J. F. and Stella Mae had two sons; James Russell (now deceased) and John Edward Singleton. They had five grandchildren; Tony Russell, Rene', Nancy Jo, Scarlet and John Ed. They had numerous great-grandchildren.
