Melody A. Anderson, age 86, of Ft. Myers, FL, Lisbon, ND, and most recently of the memory care unit at Bishops Court, is at peace in the arms of Jesus, entered eternal life on Saturday June 16, 2007 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her zest for life is one many will cherish as she made a memorable impact on countless people's lives. Melody, the youngest of four, and the only daughter was born June 28, 1920 in Carrington, ND to the late William Francis and Sarah(Massey)Dodd. She graduated from Carrington High School and attended the University of North Dakota and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Melody married Gordon Anderson on May 25, 1941. While Gordon served our country in the U.S. Army, they lived in: Florida, California, Louisiana, Georgia and Gainesville, Texas. After service they live in Hutchinson, MN and then moved to Lisbon, ND in 1952. When Gordon retired in 1977, they wintered in Ft. Myers, FL and summered in Lisbon, ND. Melody loved music all her life.. was choir director at the Presbyterian Church in Lisbon for 15 years, was a soloist, sang in the choir in the Presbyterian Church in Ft. Myers, FL and sang in the Christmas Cantata. Her hobbies include knitting, making pottery, playing bridge, playing golf, dancing, singing, playing the piano, canning fruit and vegetables every fall, making jelly and jam, baking pies and cinnamon rolls (her families favorite) traveling, spending time with family and friends. Her first love of dogs dates back to her German Shepherd "King" who pulled her on her roller skates as a young girl... Taffy, cocker spaniel was her pet in Lisbon for 27 years. Melody was very proud of her Irish heritage. Even through her struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, Melody continued to enjoy her music. She would dance to the big bands music, hum the tunes if she could not remember the words to her favorite hymns in church, and truly enjoyed just listening to her music. Melody is survived a son Dr Gordon Paul(Darlene)of Silverthorne, CO and Lisbon, ND, their children and grandchildren Dr Stacey(Cary)Anderson-Lancaster, Rachel, Henry, Max Arthur, and Thomas of Charlottesville VA, Nicole(Sean)Siira of Erie, PA, and Anthony(Dr Amy), and Piper of Englevale, ND, daughter Pegge(Duke)Wright of Green Bay WI, their children and grandchildren: Mary Kay(John)Ross-Wright and Juliana of Green Bay, WI, Angela(Brian)Radaker and Emily of Tryon, NC, Michael and Jason and Brenan of Wausau, WI, and Jeff(Fawn)and Braylin of Green Bay, WI, and son Dr Scott(Jeanne)of Sacramento, CA and Todd and Brad, of San Diego, CA, Matthew of Zurich, Switzerland, a sister-in-law Ruth Dodd, and nieces and nephews. Melody was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Gordon, and three brothers, Francis, Robert and William. Melody will be buried next to her husband in Lisbon, ND.
