Mrs. Pugh died Sunday, March 2, 2008. Born in Mt. Pleasant, April 22, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Norman Laurin and Berta Willis Martin. A lover of music, all sports and activities and an enthusiastic Gamecock fan, she was an outstanding athlete at McColl High School, playing on the team that won two consecutive state championships in basketball and that lasted through three years. She relocated to Columbia in 1953 and later retired after twenty years of service with the State Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
Mrs. Pugh was an active member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, a member of the Ed Anderson Sunday School Class, Circle #1, Women of the Church, XYZ and the Bible Study Class. She was a people person, an avid gardener and cherished every moment with her grandchildren.

he was preceded in death by sister, Vera Hilton; brothers, Evans Martin, Chester Martin and Hubert Martin; and dear and devoted friend and companion, Jack L. Breeden.
