Frank Matthew “Frog” Powell, 79, of Lostant, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Hope Township Cemetery, Lostant with Pastor Suzann Barr of Crossroads Community Church, Magnolia officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Lostant American Legion. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant.

Mr. Powell was born April 20, 1940 in Vandalia to Albert and Myrtle (Swarms) Powell. He married Sandra “Sandie” Henderson on January 26, 1968 in Bloomington.

Mr. Powell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1957-1962. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church, Magnolia and a Hope Township trustee. He retired as a truck driver with Consolidated Freightways in 2001 and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Prior to retirement, he received an award in the “safe million mile driving club”. He was a Lionel train dealer and collector. He was also an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing pinochle. The people who have met or known “Frog” will never forget him.

Survivors include his wife, Sandie; six children, Frank (Mary) Powell Jr. of Atlanta, IL, William Powell of Pasadena, CA, Timothy (Jean) Powell of Seminole, OK, Sherry (Anthony) Allison of Lostant, IL, Ty Powell of Lostant, IL and step-son, Troy Lane Conley of Peru, IL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sherry (Tom) Rockwell of Normal, IL and Nancy Jo Farmer of Decatur, IL and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ron Powell.
