Obituary for Daniel Delco Henderson

Daniel D. Henderson, 77, passed away Thursday May 30, 2019.

Daniel was born December 18, 1941 to Daniel A. and Frances Henderson in Barry County, Missouri, and was the second child of five.

Daniel enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves in 1959 until 1961 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country for four additional years. He left the Marine Corps with a background in Radio Communication and Repair, and once back home in Missouri, opened his own business: Town and Country TV which he continued from 1966 until 1979.

Daniel was a long time resident of Watauga, Texas, where he moved in 1979. He continued his career in telecommunications and radio test and QC, working for a few electronic technology companies before working at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in 1985. Daniel retired after 19+ years dedicated service and contributions to the success of Lockheed Martin as QC Engineer in Metrology Operations. He also successfully served as Union Liaison for Employees a number of years.

Daniel was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps and following his active duty military service continued to support our troops and his fellow veterans. He was an active part of Tarrant County Detachment Marine Corps League. Daniel also devoted countless hours in volunteer service for the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Organization, which he enjoyed for over 15 years. His dedication and commitment to fellow veterans continued with volunteer service at the Dallas VA Hospital for which he picked up and transported patients for their appointments.

Daniel was a wonderful father, a United States Marine, and a genuine friend to many. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will always be cherished.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Frances, and two sisters Arlene and Sharon.

Daniel is survived by one sister, Diane Dykes and one brother Dennis Henderson and wife Samantha, two daughters, Deirdre Vest and husband Steve, and Robyn Henderson, four grandchildren, Nicole, Charles, McKenzie, and Nathan, two great-grandchildren, so many cousins, nieces and nephews along with so many friends and countless United States Marine Corps brothers and sisters. Semper Fidelis!

Daniel loved life. Please feel free to celebrate his life with us on Thursday, June 6th Visitation, 8am to 8pm but family will attend 4pm to 8pm. Daniel's life will be honored with graveside service on Friday, June 7th at 11am at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
