Wayne E. Banister, age 89, of Wauseon, died June 1, 2007, at Heartland Nursing Home in Wauseon. Mr. Bannister was a farmer, and he had also been a business man, hauling milk for many years and after that he owned and operated Banister Excavating. He was born in Wauseon on March 1, 1918, the son of the late Rinaldo and the late Ruth (Kimmer) Banister. On September 29, 1940 he married Lucille R. Arnold, and she preceded him in death in 2005. Wayne was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon. He is survived by his One Son, Lester (Odette) Banister of Wauseon, One Daughter, Jane Banister of El Paso, Texas, Seven Grandchildren, Seventeen Great-Grandchildren, And two sisters Melva (Mel) Grisier of Wauseon and Lucille Canfield of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother Paul Banister, and one sister Evelyn Rossman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon, with the Rev. Charles Althoff, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Sunday from 2 - 9 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Emmaus Lutheran Church Building Fund or to Wauseon Fire & Rescue.
