Johnnie Hoyt Baker, 75, of Given, WV, passed away June 2, 2019, following an extended illness.

He was born March 18, 1944, in Mineral Wells, WV, the son of the late David Henry and Hazel Christina (Thornton) Baker. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann (Hosey) Baker; an infant daughter, Brenda Sue Baker; sons, David H. Baker and Edward Allen Baker; brother, Henry Baker, and an infant brother; sisters, Mary Barr, Daisy McFadden and Ruth Whitehouse, and a special family member Junior Hosey.

Johnnie was a farmer and he enjoyed hunting, crafts, carpentry, fabricating and spending time with his family. He was a Christian by faith.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Jessie Baker of Ripley; brother, Andrew Paul Baker of Newark, OH; sister, Minnie Lane of Evans, and special family members, Ruth and John Paul Parsons, Patty Hosey, Amber Hosey and her fiance’ Chad Thomas, Faye, Jacoby and Tiffany Hosey, Ryan Abramovich, Teresa and Jim Roman, Christopher and Sarah Roman and his cat, Marmalade.

Service will be 12-noon Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Aaron Melhorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Leon, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home.
