Edwin “Ed” W. Hughes, age 99, formerly of Cambria and Loretta, WI, passed away on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019 at Randolph Health Services.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8,2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria with Rev. Kristin Frederich officiating. Relatives and friends may call on the family from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Ed was born on July 24, 1919 in Cambria, the son of William John and Dora (Wagner) Hughes. He was a 1937 graduate of Cambria High School. In 1941, Ed enlisted in the US Navy and had served his country for six years. While serving, he met the love of his life and was united in marriage to Eva Donna Roser on Nov. 21, 1943 at the naval air station in Jacksonville, FL. Following his discharge, they moved back to Cambria for 35 years and Ed was employed with Michigan Fruit Co. (Del Monte) in Cambria as an electrician and later with Busse Co of Randolph, until his retirement at the age of 63. Ed and Eva moved north to Loretta, WI where they enjoyed retirement together. Ed loved to go fishing, trapping and hunting with both gun and bow. Due to failing health, they moved to Randolph in February of 2015. Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria and a past member of Cambria Conservation Club.

Ed will be sadly missed and mourned by his wife, Eva of Randolph; two daughters, Kathryn “Kay” (Fred) Heidt of rural Cambria and Carol Ann (Gaynell “Mac”) McPherson of CA; his grandchildren, Suzie (Dennis) Roundy and Kim (Doug) Roeder, both of rural Cambria, Alan (Raynell) Lloyd, Felicia McPherson, Eva-Noreen (Patrick Steve) Torres and Kathleen Annette McPherson; his great grandchildren, Colton Roundy, Dustin (Cassie) Roundy, Kiely and Jasmyn Lloyd, Julia and Maya Torres; his step great grandchildren, Caitlyn (Mike) Roeder and Bryanna (Craig) Tillema; his great great grandchildren, Avalon and Guenther Roundy; his step great great grandchildren, Braelyn, Grayson Orion, Aiden and Emmett; two sisters, Phyllis (Keith) Hutzler of rural Cambria and Mary (Bob) Lentz of Beaver Dam; a brother, Marvin (Marge) Hughes of Wautoma; nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents. His siblings, Betty (Charles) Dalton, Eileen (Henry) Schave, Evelyn (Don) Moore, Leroy (Anna) Hughes, Emrys Hughes, Elmer (Betty) Hughes, Gwendolyn (Don) Westgard and William Hughes.
