Trudy Askew Mitchell was born in Northampton county on September 8, 1947 to the late Hudson Askew and Lillie Mae Britton Askew. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Askew Richardson.
Trudy retired from the NC Dept of Social Services and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. She served on the NC State Board of Examiners in Optometry for 10 years. She was an Ordained Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, member and served on numerous committees at Zebulon Baptist Church. She was Secretary of the Board of Directors for DEW4HIM. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her many friends. She loudly and simply went about her way helping others and was known for being able to comfort others in difficult times. She was a wonderful wife, daugther, mother, sister, a loving me-ma, and an incredible friend.
Trudy is survived by her husband, Roger, and two daughters, Jerri Biggs (husband, Scott) and Pamela Stokes (husband, Stephen), one sister, Ann Bennett (husband, Joel), and four grandchildren, Morgan & Bradley Biggs and Hannah & Jared Stokes.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4th, at 10 am at Zebulon Baptist Church (400 North Arendell Ave Zebulon NC 27597) with burial to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens (809 W Gannon Ave Zebulon NC 27597).
