Rachel was the fourth of six children born to Thomas Gaston and Alice Lenore (Duke) Wooten. She was never married.

Services Are Set

Miss Rachel Nanceta Wooten, 65, 310 S. Race St, died at 5 o'clock this morning at Davis Hospital. She had been in declining health for one year and critically ill for one week. Miss Wooten was born Feb. 5, 1909 in Statesville, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Gaston and Alice Lenora Duke Wooten.
She was a graduate of Statesville High School and attended Mitchell College. She was a stenographer and employee of the Dixie Dame Co. for over 20 years and worked for the Iredell County and City of Statesville tax supervisors until her retirement. She was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church and was a primary Sunday school teacher there and at Front Street Presbyterian Church for over 35 years. She was a member of the North Carolina Historical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a former member of Business and Professional Women's Club.
She was never married.
Surviving are three sisters, Miss Miriam Wooten of the home, Mrs. C. R. Meacham, ST., of Charlotte and Mrs. J. R. Shaver of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Herman D. Wooten of Statesville and J. Matthew Wooten of Wilmington; two nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Nicholson Funeral Home by her minister, Rev. Gaston Boyle, Jr. Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening between 7:30 and 9 o'clock.
Memorials may be given to the building fund of Oakland Presbyterian Church.
