Edgar E. Poulton, 66, who retired last March as an economist and writer for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., died Monday in Fairfax Hospital after a heart attack. A McLean resident for 21 years, he lived on Elizabeth Road in McLean. Mr. Poulton was active in the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, where he organized and prepared study guides and courses for the church's lenten programs for many years. He was an ordained elder and represented the church as its commissioner to the National Capital Union Presbytery. He also was on several committees of the church and the presbytery, recently representing the presbytery at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States (Southern). During the 20 years Mr. Poulton lived in the District he was active in the Sixth Presbyterian Church, which he also served as elder. He was born in Rinard Mills, Ohio, and moved to Washington in 1939 as an economist for the Department of Labor. He began working for the FDIC in 1943. For two years of his career at FDIC he was assigned to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. He leaves his wife, Peg; two daughters, Patricia, of the District and Elizabeth, of Falls Church; a son, Mark W., of Wooster, Ohio; a brother: a sister: and a grandchild.
