William George Perkins, Sr. age 72 of Lacona passed away Monday May 20, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Bill is survived by his children William Perkins Jr. (Michelle) of Nokesville, Virginia, Jamie Perkins (Nicole) of Lacona, NY, Melissa Tolhurst (Richard) of Sandy Creek, NY, Tim Perkins (Carrie) of Pulaski, NY, 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Two brothers Albert (Sharon) Johnston of Mannsville, NY and David Perkins of Aurora, Colorado., one sister Christina Fischer (Robert) of Elkridge, Maryland, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife Georgia in 2015, his parents Albert and Genevieve Perkins and two brothers Floyd Johnston and Peter Mattice Perkins.

He was born February 2, 1947 in Watertown, NY. He was raised on the family farm. He attended the Mannsville Manor Central School.

Bill entered the Marine Corps in July 1965. He married Georgia Edgar December 20, 1965.

He went to Boot Camp at Paris Island, SC then Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, NC. In October 1966 he was sent to Vietnam. He was stationed in Okinawa and Vietnam in those years.

Sergeant Perkins was honorably discharged from the Corps in August 1974. He was in the Marine Reserves in Mattydale, NY for several years.

Bill worked as a mechanic for several auto dealerships including Franklins, Salmon River Chevrolet, FX Caprara and owned his own business, B&P Auto in Lacona, NY.

He belonged to the Sandy Creek Grange #127, The Marine Corps League, Mattydale, NY and was a 45-year member of the Lacona VFW Post.

He enjoyed being a mechanic. He also enjoyed his friends and especially being a grandpa.

There will be a combined Graveside Service for Bill & Georgia followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.
