Master Sergeant Frank Dever Lawson, Jr. (Ret US Air Force), a resident of Newton, passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He was 66.

Mr. Lawson was born on August 12, 1952 in Pascagoula, MS and lived the early years of his life in Escatawpa, MS. He joined the US Air Force in 1971 and served for 23 years as a meteorologist. Mr. Lawson worked with the National Weather Service and most recently was employed with Covan until his retirement in 2014.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Debra Lawson; his son, Joshua (Jenn) Lawson; his daughter, Makesha (Rustin) Nowell; his grandchildren, Reagan Nowell and Jace Lawson; his brothers, Herbert Lawson, David Lawson, Richard Lawson, Dennis Lawson, and Michael Lawson; his sister, Betty Versiga; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Perry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am.
